Understanding Executive Coaching

You may read more if you wish, but you are on this page, you are a busy individual. In a synopsis; Executive coaching is business coaching; from helping a small business owner to helping a distressed CEO, or work with an executive who feels derailed or stuck.

I help career-minded individuals:
Develop Confidence - Leadership - Reach their Peak - Perform
Transform - Progress - Develop New Skills - Break Ceilings - Create Opportunity

I embody knowledge about a wide variety of business areas: Finance, Human Resources, Entertainment, Media, Marketing, Sales, Leadership, Public Speaking & Presentations and more. I am a result driven personality both personally and in my coaching.

"In reading the lives of great men, I found that the first victory they won was over themselves..self-discipline with all of them came first." Harry S. Truman

Although I work with teens, stay-at-home parents, and people looking for wellness; a large part of my work is with business executives or, people looking toward advancement in their career.

I also work with performing artists, news reporters/anchors, singer/songwriters and authors.Another area that I have worked often is with non-profits, in their office and with their boards. Corporate coaching, marketing, sales, small business, mission statement development, networking coaching, price strategy coaching, public relations coaching, leadership and management coaching, staff, employee coaching; it's all integral to executive success.

When an individual hires me for coaching, we look at the big picture; sometimes there is imbalance and we work on overall success coaching with creativity coaching, motivation coaching and so on, or relationship coaching with divorce recovery or romance coaching.
I even have worked with their teens, and have conducted family coaching.  So, realize that if you wish to have executive coaching, your career is one aspect of a bigger picture and the goals are yours to make but we do look at the big picture at all times. Sometimes business setbacks or frustrations stem from out-of-office situations.

Why do people hire an executive coach?
People hire a coach because they either want something or want less of something. There is imbalance. The focus of coaching is maximizing opportunities for the client.
A consultant tends to be narrowly defined by the scope of the issue they undertake; they must be an expert in their forte' to address the issue that needs consulting. A mentor is someone who teaches based upon their forte' also. Confidentiality with a consultant or mentor is iffy. A consultant probably is also looking at your competitors and working with them.

A coach is different. A coach works with the individual to develop that individuals capabilities; this may include some consulting or mentoring; however, a consultant or mentor often does not have a vested interest in the client as an individual, to have full balance, gain and happiness; more task related rather than whole person.

"In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity." Albert Einstein

A successful coach does not need to know your professional business as well as you or be an expert in your line of work. You are the only one that needs to know your business; however, a coach will understand success and be comfortable with people and problem solving as well as creative and proactive. As a coach, I personally am someone who is blunt, not afraid to address sticky situations and understand your time (as mine) is valuable.

A coach is not a therapist or psychologist; a coach is someone who does not work with broken people but with whole people who want greater success and happiness. There are of course, people who are working with a therapist as well as a coach; but in the realm of the coach - there is only focus on the goals at hand, addressing them and exploring their possibilities.

The kind of people that hire a coach...
Most people hire me or other coaches because they are already somewhat successful, very functional and are in a place of either transition or impatience to get their needs met. A coach like myself, helps an executive to reach goals, shape or reshape their business and/or personal life while increasing productivity and happiness through new ideas, activities that are customized to the client and offering a supportive, encouraging atmosphere with an open-communication policy.

"If you will discipline yourself to make your mind self-sufficient you will thereby be least vulnerable to injury from the outside." Critias of Athen

My clients are busy, important people; and I offer them an open communication door,
confidentiality and I look out for their best interest, sometimes being the only person
that they have this professional trust, with given the competitive work climate.
